Operations Manager / Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Various locations across Canada
Salary: $150,000 – $180,000 CAD (depending on experience)
Skyline Recruitment is working with a fast-growing, multidisciplinary consulting firm that is currently seeking an Operations Manager / Senior Geotechnical Engineer to help lead and grow its Geotechnical Services division.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise and mentor a team of junior to senior staff across geotechnical projects
- Oversee safety, technical quality, and efficiency of team deliverables
- Provide strategic leadership to support technical growth and team development
- Review technical reports and ensure alignment with company standards
- Coordinate staffing, scheduling, equipment usage, and vacation planning
Financial & Operational Oversight
- Prepare and monitor group budgets, utilization targets, and profitability metrics
- Oversee contract document preparation and ensure alignment with internal standards
- Track monthly performance and lead forecasting activities
Project Coordination
- Develop work schedules, allocate resources, and assign team responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between internal departments, clients, and regulatory bodies
- Maintain and grow strong relationships with contractors and industry partners
Business Development
- Engage in ongoing business development and client relationship management
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and professional associations
- Identify opportunities for growth and strategic partnerships
Quality Control & Technical Excellence
- Ensure consistent quality of deliverables across all project stages
- Provide expert technical input on geotechnical assessments and investigations
- Support staff development through mentoring and technical training
- Offer regulatory guidance and ensure compliance with industry standards
Qualifications
- University degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering (or related discipline)
- 10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with demonstrated leadership and operations management
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, or eligibility to register
- Experience managing or working with a CCIL-certified lab (asset)
- Strong understanding of geotechnical services as they relate to other disciplines such as Environmental and Building Sciences
- Proven technical writing and report preparation skills
- Business acumen with experience in budgeting, invoicing, and client engagement
- Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership capabilities
