Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated production and packaging equipment in a fast-paced food and beverage manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in minimizing downtime, supporting production targets, and ensuring full compliance with Ontario health, safety, and food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections and preventative maintenance on production and packaging equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled systems
• Maintain and service equipment including conveyors, palletizers, depalletizes, wrappers, and labeling systems
• Support automated filling and packaging lines, including Krones and/or Tetra Pak equipment
• Respond to production line breakdowns and work collaboratively with operators to restore equipment performance
• Diagnose root causes of failures and implement corrective and preventative actions
• Maintain automation components such as sensors, drives, motors, and HMIs
• Complete maintenance documentation and follow established PM and work order procedures
• Ensure compliance with Ontario Health & Safety legislation, GMPs, food safety, and company policies
• Participate in training and knowledge-sharing with operators and maintenance team members
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, safety, and efficiency
• Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 4+ years of maintenance experience in a food, beverage, or manufacturing environment
• Strong working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment (Allen-Bradley preferred)
• Hands-on experience with Krones and/or Tetra Pak equipment is a strong asset
• Electromechanical experience including sensors, VFDs, motors, and HMIs
• Ability to read schematics, electrical diagrams, equipment manuals, and parts lists
• Ontario trade license (Millwright 433A, Electrician 442A, or equivalent) is an asset
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a high-speed production environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with production teams
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical work as required
