This role requires a hands-on approach, deep technical knowledge, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Industrial Automation Tooling Design:
  • Drafting mechanical systems and tooling for assembly lines, ensuring they meet the minimum required speed of 30 parts per minute.
  • Create detailed drawings for components such as pneumatic cylinders, servo motors, gearboxes, part presence sensors, and safety systems.
  • 3D Modeling:
  • Utilize SolidWorks and/or CATIA to create and refine 3D models of mechanical systems.
  • Generate technical drawings and documentation to support manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Component Selection and Sizing:
  • Accurately size and select components like pneumatic cylinders to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Perform traditional mechanical design tasks, such as selecting and integrating bearings.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work closely with engineering teams, manufacturing staff, and project managers to ensure designs are aligned with project goals and timelines.
  • Communicate design concepts and updates clearly through both oral and written communication.
  • Continuous Learning & Adaptation:
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in mechanical design and assembly line technology.
  • Be open to learning new skills and techniques to enhance design capabilities.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience:
  • Extensive experience in Industrial Automation design, particularly in designing tooling for high-speed assembly lines.
  • Hands-on experience with pneumatic cylinders, servo motors, gearboxes, part presence sensors, and safety systems.
  • Software Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Strong ability to size and select pneumatic cylinders.
  • Competence in traditional mechanical design, including bearing selection and integration.
