The Opportunity:

As part of our continued growth, Cardinal Engineering is seeking an experienced Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with proven expertise to assume a leadership role in design and project management. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking professional with a solid understanding of the applicable codes and standards, with a drive for continued growth within a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This position is well-suited for an experienced fire suppression specialist seeking to lead teams, manage complex projects, and uphold the highest standards of code compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Fire Suppression Design & Review

  • Prepare and review fire suppression system designs for feasibility and compliance
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other consultants to ensure compliance and efficiency
  • Stay current with code changes, industry standards, and best practices

Project Management & Coordination

  • Provide technical support and coordination during construction, including field reviews and deficiency reports
  • Serve as a primary liaison between clients, internal teams, and regulatory agencies
  • Contribute to project management, scheduling, and client communication
  • Report directly to the Principal

Qualifications:

Experience & Education

  • Registered as a P.Eng. (BC) with EGBC
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in fire protection engineering or building code consulting (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and Building Codes
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) (3D not required).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership skills, capable of managing and mentoring a growing team
  • Detail-oriented and adaptable
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
