Mortgage Collections Specialist

Location: Toronto, ON – Hybrid (3 days on-site per week)

Job Type: Contract, 6 months, Full-Time

Clearance: Criminal background check, credit check, and professional references required

Language: Strong English communication required, both written and spoken. French is an asset.

Compensation: $55,000 – 70,000 annually

About the Opportunity

This is an exciting time to join a growing financial services organization that is evolving rapidly following a major merger and expansion. In this role, you’ll focus on early-stage mortgage collections, working with residential and small commercial accounts between 1 and 30 days in arrears. You’ll support clients through respectful, solutions-based conversations, helping them bring accounts current while protecting the organization’s portfolio. It’s a people-first role where strong customer service and sound financial judgment go hand in hand.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll manage a high-volume portfolio of mortgage accounts, handling 300–400 files weekly while maintaining performance targets.
  • You’ll connect with clients through phone, email, letters, and SMS, guiding them toward payment solutions and relief options.
  • You’ll build relationships with repeat clients, understanding their circumstances and helping drive long-term account stability.
  • You’ll document all activity accurately using systems such as Techcom, FIS, and SAP, ensuring compliance and transparency.
  • You’ll collaborate closely with customer service and collections teams to ensure seamless client handoffs and outcomes.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in collections, mortgage servicing, or a financial services call centre environment.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage arrears processes and customer-focused recovery strategies.
  • Experience working with high-volume portfolios and performance-driven targets.
  • Comfortable using systems such as Techcom, FIS, SAP, or similar financial platforms.
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and negotiation skills with a solutions-focused mindset.
