Job Description:
At Canaan Group, we are currently hiring a Ocean Logistics Coordinator to support our growing team! We are looking for someone who is passionate about building and maintaining trust-based relationships with customers, suppliers, and international agents. You will provide expertise in shipment documentation, warehouse planning, customs brokerage, cargo insurance, port expenses, and providing solution-based recommendations for our customers.
Major position accountabilities:
- ·Responsible for preparing documentation for ocean freight shipments for importing and exporting customer products in a timely manner
- Accountable for submitting CERS, AES, ISF, E-manifest, Shipping Line SI, Bills of Lading submissions, as well as arranging phytosanitary certificate, insurance coverage, and invoices for customers.
- Handles accounting processes, investigates rate discrepancies, customer quotes, and bookings for vendors
- Coordinates shipments with carriers including overseas agents, truckers, port agents, custom brokers, shipping lines, and other service providers
- Tracks and monitors shipments on a daily basis while communicating with shippers and agents to proactively identify potential issues and work to resolve operational issues
- Identifies customer needs through active listening to answer questions and make product recommendations based on the customer requirements
- Performs data entry accurately and within the required timeframe into CRM tool
- Builds and maintains client relationships by answering general inquiries regarding shipment status, invoices, and other related shipping documentation
- Responsible for maintaining, coordinating and communicating with Key accounts
‘Must Haves’
- ·High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- Minimum three years of freight forwarding experience
- Excellent English communication skills both verbal and written
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically in Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver results to meet timelines
- Exceptional customer service skills to internal and external partners
‘Preferred’
- Post secondary diploma or degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field
- Knowledge and/or experience in ocean logistics would be an asset
- Proficiency with Cargo Wise operating system
- Knowledge of international ocean import/export rules and regulations
- Experience with customs would be an asset
- Strong negotiating skills for customer quotes and services
