Our Big Molly site near Glenevis (40 minutes northwest of Spruce Grove) is our regional Sand Processing Facility where we mine, wash and dry frac sand for direct shipment to our customers. We take pride in our product and value our employees while providing a close-knit, local place to work.

The Opportunity: Reporting to the Director – Operations, the Operations & Projects Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations at the Big Molly frac sand facility, managing continuous improvement and operational projects. By supporting all facets of exploration, this role ensures operational efficiency, Safety, and compliance while driving long-term performance and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Project Management

  • Lead daily mine operations with a focus on safety, efficiency, cost control, and alignment to strategic objectives, addressing issues proactively to maintain performance targets
  • Manage site budgets, operating costs, monthly P&L reporting, and financial accountability while collaborating across departments including Logistics, HSE, Finance, and Corporate Leadership
  • Oversee operational improvement projects and exploration activities from planning through execution, including geological modeling, QA/QC, and resource optimization
  • Direct site-based environmental management, sustainability initiatives, and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards
  • Manage third-party contractors and project teams while maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders to support current operations and future opportunities

Leadership

  • Provide clear, hands-on leadership to operational teams at all levels while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Mentor and develop employees from junior to senior levels in safety, operational excellence, and environmental stewardship
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative work environment
  • Lead by example while driving performance, accountability, and adherence to established processes
  • Embrace and encourage peer learning and knowledge sharing across the organization

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in mining, frac sand, aggregates, or related industries
  • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills with a proven track record managing multi-disciplinary teams and large-scale operational projects
  • Deep understanding of quarry operations, geology, mining best practices, and regulatory compliance
  • Financial acumen including budget management and cost control
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in all aspects of operations
