POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Practice Area Manager is part of a specific business area’s leadership team at Danovo Energy Solutions, reporting to the Technology Deployment & Testing Business Area Manager (BAM). This position is responsible for the Advanced Energy Systems Studies and Compliance practice area (PA) and partial P&L accountability. The primary duty is to provide business and team leadership, ensuring operational excellence by applying technical knowledge about the industry. As a trusted advisor to customers, the Practice Area Manager interacts with external industry stakeholders and partners closely with our parent company, Quanta Services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning
- Accountable for building the practice area strategic plans alongside the BAM and accountable for delivering on targets.
- Accountable for succession planning and talent management to identify high performers within the practice area and foster their career growth.
- Make informed decisions that enable business growth and consider long-term impacts in alignment with the vision of the company.
- Stay current on industry trends and technical developments.
Leadership and Teamwork
- Achieve results through people by successful objective setting, performance management, strategic hiring, professional development and coaching, and mentoring.
- Lead by example with a positive attitude when faced with adversity, change, or conflict.
- Inform others of information that enables better teamwork, business results, and/or customer experiences, e.g., meeting minutes, upcoming travel plans, or high-profile time-sensitive proposals.
- Foster accountability by following up on process adherence until completion.
- Enable teams to achieve annual growth targets (bookings and revenue) and ensure customer satisfaction is the focus.
- Provide high-quality project management oversight and ensure the successful execution of projects within scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
Business Development
- Engage directly with customers, including working on projects and leading project acquisition.
- Understand and promote our service offerings in the industry and with customers.
- Develop depth in the service offerings for the practice area.
- Provide strategic reviews and insight when practice area projects connect with others to keep the organization working together as one team.
- Represent the company at external forums, building industry events, and on committees and boards.
- Maintain respectful and ethical customer relationships.
- Gather market and regulatory intelligence from key industry organizations and disseminate insights across the organization.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
TRAVEL
The ideal candidate is willing and able to travel to client locations and industry meetings, typically up to 25% depending on the assignment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related technical field preferred.
- Experience supervising and performing complex studies, including model development and benchmarking, for microgrids, inverter-based resources (IBR), large loads, and data center projects in accordance with ISO, RTO, and utility methodologies and requirements
- Preferred experience in a progressive leadership position in the utility, consulting, or energy sector. Including experience with people management.
- Recognized leadership experience in the electric power and energy consulting industry.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with power system analysis tools such as PSS®E, PSLF, PSCAD, ETAP, TARA, CAPE, Aspen, or similar platforms.
- Demonstrated success in financial management, business development, and organizational leadership.
- Strong executive presence and proven ability to engage at the C-level with customers and industry stakeholders.
- Technical knowledge of the utility industry and power energy market.
- Conflict management skills.
- Executive-level communication skills.
- Ability to work in a diverse, collaborative, and high-performing culture.
LOCATION
Danovo Energy Solutions has offices in Raleigh, NC, Markham, ON, Lombard, IL, and San Clemente, CA. The preferred location for this role is the Markham, ON office. We offer hybrid employment that supports a blend of in-office and/or remote work.
