Production Supervisor


About the Role

As a front-line supervisor, you will oversee and coordinate daily production operations. This includes supervising staff, maintaining safety and food hygiene standards, and ensuring production schedules and quality targets are consistently met.

The role plays a key part in supporting operational goals by fostering team performance, streamlining workflows, and managing resources effectively.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supervising and coordinating all production activities and staff to meet daily targets and quality standards
  • Scheduling and allocating labor and resources based on daily operational needs
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations (HACCP, GMP, ISO)
  • Conducting training, mentoring, and ongoing performance evaluations for team members
  • Promoting a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Maintaining accurate records of production volumes, inventory, and quality control checks
  • Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with procurement as needed
  • Identifying inefficiencies and implementing process improvements to optimize productivity
  • Reporting production updates, issues, and recommendations to management
  • Ensuring safe handling and proper storage of food and hazardous materials
  • Maintaining visual standards of the production area, ensuring cleanliness, signage, and displays
  • Arranging for the training of new staff and monitoring and reporting on performance
  • Assisting with resolving day-to-day operational issues including complaints, shortages, and urgent catering requests
  • Ensuring the visual standards and image of the kitchen is maintained, such as store displays, signage and cleanliness
  • Working within a role and performing duties as required and directed

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2–4 years of supervisory experience in food production, catering, airline catering, hotel, or hospitality industry
  • Food Safety and Sanitation Certifications (e.g. Food Safe, HACCP, GMP, ISO)
  • Strong understanding of operational workflows, labor planning, and safety protocols
  • Prior experience working in a unionized, multicultural environment is an asset
