About Wafr Technologies

Wafr Technologies is redefining global standards for sustainable AI compute through next-generation thermal management. Our patented and patent-pending hybrid PCM-based cooling, Thermal Energy Storage (TES), and AI-orchestrated tri-generation systems reduce cooling energy by up to 70% and enable near water-free, chiller-free data centre design.

We are now deploying 10 MW–100 MW AI data centre campuses and integrating Wafr cooling solutions into hyperscale environments. We are seeking a Project Manager – Data Centres to lead planning, execution, and delivery of our advanced cooling systems and data centre development projects.

Role Overview

The Project Manager will drive end-to-end execution of Wafr’s data centre projects—including cooling system deployment, site development, vendor coordination, construction oversight, and commissioning.

You will work closely with engineering, EPC firms, equipment vendors, utilities, investors, and government stakeholders to deliver low-PUE, sustainable, and cost-efficient compute infrastructure.

This role is ideal for a high-ownership, technically strong project leader passionate about data centres, energy systems, and breakthrough cooling technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution of 5–100 MW data centre projects and Wafr cooling system deployments.
  • Create and manage detailed project plans, timelines, risk registers, procurement plans, and cost tracking.
  • Drive EPC coordination and site readiness for mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural works.
  • Oversee integration of Wafr cooling systems (PCM/TES, secondary loop, trigeneration, air-side systems, heat exchangers).

Technical & Engineering Coordination

  • Collaborate with Wafr mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers to translate system designs into executable site plans.
  • Coordinate with OEMs: Jenbacher/Wärtsilä/Siemens turbines, heat-exchanger vendors, pump systems, immersion/D2C providers.
  • Ensure compliance with ASHRAE TC9.9, OCP ACS, CSA/UL, environmental, and local permitting standards.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with EPC partners, data centre consultants, equipment suppliers, and construction contractors.
  • Coordinate with utilities (power, gas, fibre) to ensure timely approvals and interconnections.
  • Support engagement with Indigenous, academic, and investor partners under SPV project structures.

Construction & Commissioning

  • Lead on-site construction monitoring and progress reviews.
  • Conduct FAT, SAT, and commissioning of cooling systems and mechanical-electrical infrastructure.
  • Ensure all safety, environmental, and QA/QC requirements are met.

Financial & Reporting

  • Track budgets, expenses, procurement cycles, and project cashflow.
  • Provide weekly project updates to the executive team.
  • Prepare reports for investors, government programs (IRAP, SR&ED), and partners.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5–12 years of experience managing data centre, energy infrastructure, or industrial projects.
  • Strong understanding of cooling systems, HVAC/thermal engineering, or energy systems.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of data centre infrastructure (HVAC, UPS, switchgear, generators, immersion cooling).
  • Experience with TES/PCM systems, district energy, or trigeneration is an asset.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project/Primavera, and modern project management tools.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional leadership abilities.
  • Strong risk management and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced startup environments with high ownership.
