Description
Your new company
Established Design Build construction firm with revenues over $400m that has been in existence for over 30 years. They have a considerable portfolio of projects in the commercial and light industrial sectors. The company operates across Ontario and Alberta and has an increasing presence locally here in BC. They see considerable opportunities locally and, as such, they have established a permanent presence here in the Lower Mainland. Much of the work undertaken is for blue-chip repeat clients and includes offices, data centers, day care facilities, self-storage facilities, care homes and retail with values up to $50m. The company also undertakes smaller tenant improvement and capital projects.
Your new role
The Project Manager will lead a variety of small to mid-sized commercial and light industrial projects across the province. Despite being an established company nationally, they maintain an entrepreneurial spirit, and you will gain broader experience than working for a typical General Contractor. This may include coordinating consultants at design stage, managing TIs and running small to mid-sized new build projects. The Project Manager will have flexibility to split their time between site(s) and working from home as preferred. However, regular site visits will be required.
What you’ll need to succeed
Ideally candidates for consideration will have a relevant technical education such as BCIT ABET program or Engineering. You will have 3+ years’ experience as a Project Manager running your own projects with a GC locally. Equally important is a desire to work as part of a small close-knit team and perform at a high level. This is a high-touch, customer-oriented business where repeat clients are taken care of as a priority, even if it means going the extra mile.
In this instance, we cannot consider a SPC or Junior PM looking to make a step up. Even though the company offers flexible working arrangements, we do require candidates that reside locally in the Lower Mainland or Fraser Valley.
What you’ll get in return
In exchange for your hard work and commitment, you will have the opportunity to be mentored by an industry expert that takes pride in investing time in the professional development of their team. You will earn a salary of between $100-135K (commensurate with experience) plus you will also receive a discretionary bonus, generous vacation, personal days and extended health and benefits.
The position represents the opportunity to join an established business at the early stages of their BC expansion. Consequently, opportunities for advancement are considerable, including the potential to develop into a broader operational position as the business expands and matures over time.
