Project Manager / Estimator – Civil Construction

Reports To: General Manager

Our client is a well-established and growing civil contracting and excavation company based in Victoria. They specialize in bulk and detailed excavation, site preparation, and underground utility installation, with projects ranging from $500K to $5M across the South Island and Greater Victoria.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager/Estimator to join a collaborative, tight-knit team with a strong reputation and a clear path for growth—including the potential to step into a General Manager role in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Supervisors, Foremen, and fellow Project Managers to ensure project success
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and subcontracts
  • Develop and maintain project schedules
  • Liaise with clients and attend site meetings as needed
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities and attend pre-tender meetings
  • Oversee job costing, change management, and project performance
  • Balance estimating and project management responsibilities (approx. 50/50 split)

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3- 5 years of experience in a similar Project Manager/Estimator role
  • Strong background in civil, underground utility, or mechanical construction
  • Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract
  • Excellent communication skills with both clients and crew
  • Solid understanding of job costing and change management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Safety-conscious, dedicated, and team-oriented

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $120,000–$140,000
  • Bonus
  • Vacation: 4 weeks
