Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Property & Facilities Manager to oversee a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial properties throughout Ottawa. This newly created role requires a “unicorn” candidate: someone with a combination of operational expertise, leadership experience, and knowledge of social housing environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations for 9 properties, including office buildings, apartment complexes, and long-term housing for youth.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5–6 maintenance staff across multiple locations.
  • Manage procurement and contractor relationships, ensuring fair market pricing and high-quality service delivery.
  • Implement and maintain property management systems (experience with Yardi not required; currently transitioning from no software).
  • Navigate landlord/tenant relations, including evictions, within a social support framework involving social workers and other community services.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership (reporting to the Director of Finance) to align operational strategies with organizational goals.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven managerial experience, ideally within property management or social housing sectors.
  • Strong understanding of landlord/tenant legislation and experience handling sensitive cases.
  • Experience managing multiple contractors and maintenance staff.
  • Familiarity with implementing property management software or similar operational systems.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Role requires flexibility to travel between properties across Ottawa.
  • Background checks required.
