Position Overview:
We are seeking detail-oriented and experienced Research Ethics Board (REB) coordinators to support the daily operations of REBs. You will serve as the primary administrative liaison between the REB and researchers, ensuring that all submissions are handled efficiently and in accordance with applicable ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage incoming research submissions, amendments, renewals, and closures via ethics review platforms or through hybrid systems
- Conduct pre-reviews for completeness, accuracy and adherence to ethical standards and compliance requirements
- Assign research studies for REB review in accordance with institutional procedures
- Coordinate REB meetings, prepare agendas, distribute materials, and record minutes
- Communicate REB decisions to researchers in a timely and professional manner
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and institutional research ethics requirements
- Maintain accurate records of correspondence, decisions, and training documentation
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience supporting a REB/IRB in a coordinator capacity
- Knowledge of research ethics regulations (e.g., TCPS, 45 CFR 46, ICH-GCP)
- Proficiency with ethics submission and review platforms, Google ecosystem and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Preferred:
- Familiarity with both Canadian and U.S. regulatory environments
- TCPS, CITI Program or similar research ethics training
- Experience working remotely with cross-functional teams
