Description
The Resource Geologist will play a key role in the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of geological and resource block models for the Porcupine operations. This position requires close collaboration with both the geology and technical services teams to effectively support short- and long-term objectives. A strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence is essential.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality mineral resource models, as well as geological, structural, and mineralization models to support effective mine planning.
- Ensure on-schedule delivery of mineral and geological resource models to meet company guidelines
- Enhance the technical applications related to resource estimation, including testing and implementing new methodologies to improve model accuracy and reconciliation.
- Communicate model updates, findings, and recommendations clearly to management and key stakeholders.
- Monitor geological data and databases to ensure adherence to rigorous QA/QC standards.
- Participate in monthly reconciliation processes and contribute to regular reporting activities.
- Collaborate closely with geology, technical services, and resource geology teams to align resource modeling with mine planning and development strategies.
- Provide input and guidance for exploration and definition drilling programs.
- Deliver technical support on geological matters, including the preparation of detailed reports and presentations.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required by the Director of Mineral Resources to support departmental and organizational goals
Qualifications
- Honours Bachelor of Science (Geology) degree or higher
- Must hold a Ontario Professional Geologist designation.
- Wide-ranging knowledge in resource estimation, mining geology, 3D geological modeling domaining, as well as geostatistical skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills. Innovative and a proven ability to work with others.
- Demonstrated knowledge in 3D modelling, database, and other relevant mining software packages (e.g. Vulcan, Leapfrog, Datamine, Excel)
- Practical knowledge and experience in drilling, sampling and assaying methods as well as QAQC procedures.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Industry-standard training in First-Aid, WHIMIS, an asset.
