About the Role

As a Junior Safety Coordinator, you will play an important role in supporting Mott Electric’s commitment to maintaining a strong safety culture across all divisions. Reporting to the Chief Safety Officer, you’ll assist in delivering safety programs, conducting orientations, and supporting both office and field operations with compliance, documentation, and communication related to health and safety standards. Responsibilities

Safety Culture & Communication

  • Collaborate with divisions to promote a safety-first culture across the organization.
  • Attend warehouse meetings to review safety updates and gather worker feedback.
  • Participate in Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee (JOHSC) meetings, division meetings, and bi-weekly safety meetings as required.
  • Communicate regularly with the Chief Safety Officer regarding safety activities and updates.

Training & Orientation

  • Facilitate Young & New Worker Orientations at the Tillicum Office.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate with operations and site supervisors.
  • Educate employees on company safety rules, policies, and expectations.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.
  • Support the coordination and execution of emergency drills.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Interpret and apply relevant health and safety legislation in the workplace.
  • Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure proper labeling of hazardous materials.
  • Review safety documentation to ensure compliance with Mott Electric’s standards and follow up as needed.
  • Maintain safety documentation, communication logs, and statistics as required.

Field Support & Fit Testing

  • Conduct fit tests for workers as required.
  • Provide recommendations for improving workplace safety.
  • Assist in the Return-to-Work program.

Qualifications

  • Certificate, diploma, or degree in Occupational Health & Safety (or currently pursuing).
  • 1–2 years of experience in construction or industrial environments (electrical experience an asset).
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships across diverse teams.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various sites as needed.

Pay Range

$55,000 – $65,000 per year
