Key Responsibilities

Preconstruction Leadership

  • Lead the preparation of accurate, detailed estimates and tenders for heavy civil and underground projects.
  • Review drawings and specifications to determine scope, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop bid strategies and make recommendations to ownership on go/no-go decisions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subtrades, and suppliers.

Estimating & Project Coordination

  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs, cost analyses, and digital terrain modeling.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations, ensuring scope coverage and competitiveness.
  • Oversee preparation of construction schedules, budgets, and cash flow projections.
  • Support transition from tender to construction by collaborating with project managers, field managers, and foremen.
  • Lead change order pricing, risk assessments, and value engineering exercises.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience estimating and/or managing civil construction projects.
  • Proven expertise in heavy civil, underground works, and site development projects.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Advanced ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction drawings.
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Professional presence with strong client-facing skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience with specialized estimating software (Heavy Bid an asset).
  • Digital terrain modeling software proficiency.
  • Knowledge of provincial and municipal design standards (e.g., OPSDs).
  • Previous mentorship or leadership experience within an estimating team.

Pay: $110,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
