In-house, Senior Law Clerk, Commercial Leasing

The Role:
Reporting to the Director, Legal Affairs, this individual will be responsible for the preparation and negotiation of legal documents relating to leasing transactions and will also provide support to the operations, construction, and leasing teams. The role will additionally involve due diligence related to purchase and finance transactions.
The role is five days per week in office. However, the client is very flexible on start and finish times.
Key Responsibilities:
* Draft and prepare legal documentation for commercial leasing transactions (with a retail focus)
* Negotiate legal terms of offers to lease, letters of intent, leases, renewals, transfers, relocations, expansions, terminations, and estoppels
* Draft, review, and revise notices of default and termination
* Finalize legal documentation for deal approval and execution by authorized signing officers
* Review and comment on legal documentation prepared by tenants, brokers, and external counsel
* Ensure all documentation aligns with company policies, procedures, strategies, and signing authorities
* Provide advice to the leasing department on business and legal considerations when structuring transactions
* Respond to internal and external inquiries and interpret lease-related issues
* Conduct Teraview and corporate searches
* Undertake due diligence for financings, acquisitions, and special projects
* Perform other responsibilities as required
Qualifications & Experience:
* Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a law firm or commercial real estate company, with a focus on drafting and negotiating sophisticated commercial leases and ancillary legal documents
* Undergraduate degree, and accreditation as a licensed Paralegal or Law Clerk
