About the Company

IAMGold seeks a Senior Legal Counsel for Canadian Operations, supporting Côté Gold and Westwood Mines. The position is based in Sudbury or at a mine site, with some travel required.

About the Role

Reports to VP, Ontario & GM Côté Gold and Deputy General Counsel. You will advise site leaders, guide legal strategy, and manage commercial agreements (procurement, construction, engineering, services). Support contract management to align with corporate standards.

Responsibilities

  • You will advise on risks, compliance, and regulatory changes.
  • Serve as company secretary for the Côté Gold Joint Venture.
  • Ensure that the site’s legal work aligns with IAMGOLD governance.
  • Support Indigenous and community agreements.
  • Manage risk by working with Legal and Supply Chain teams to mitigate it.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law.
  • Law Society of Ontario membership.
  • 8–10 years’ commercial or corporate law experience.

Required Skills

  • Strong contract skills.
  • Organized and effective under pressure.
  • Strong English (French an asset).

Preferred Skills

  • Mining, oil/gas, or construction experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with environmental laws is an advantage.

You must live in Sudbury or relocate. This position is not remote, and travel will be required.
