Job Title: Shop Supervisor
Reports To: Branch Manager
Location: North York, ON
Salary: $90-100K
Our client is a bus company seeking a Shop Supervisor for their North York location. Reporting to the Branch Manager, the position is responsible for supervising the shop mechanics/apprentices including training, inspecting work, managing inventory and ensuring maintenance levels meet our client’s high standards. The incumbent will maintain a positive work environment by providing all employees with fair and equitable supervision and encouraging professional and personal growth. Safety and positive customer relations are the cornerstones of this position.

Qualifications:
Education
Essential
1. Completion of high school or vocational equivalent
2. Certified Truck/Coach Auto Mechanics license and satisfactory completion and ongoing updates of automotive technology programs
Desirable
1 Current/updated courses on automotive technology, equipment and techniques
2. Ozone Depletion license
Knowledge
Essential
1. Prior supervisory experience and 5+ years work experience in the mechanical repair and maintenance of all company related equipment
2. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
3. Knowledge of safety rules and precautions related to the use of tools, vehicles, equipment and shop environment.
4. Knowledge of methods, tools, materials, equipment and procedures used in the diagnosis, overhaul, repair and adjustment of components and systems for vehicles and equipment

- Ability to read, interpret and apply diagnostic codes, maintenance manuals, electrical diagrams, vehicle emission control standards and related specification manuals
Special Qualifications
- Must have 310 T and or S certification
2. Must have a “G” Class driver’s license not a probationary license
Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. Co-ordinate maintenance between Service Department and Operators at the branch.
2. Oversee and schedule the production and work of all maintenance personnel in repairing and servicing of all vehicles and equipment.
3. Evaluate the work of maintenance personnel to ensure safety, efficient management of work processes and services, and provide performance feedback.
4. Maintain a clean safe work environment.
5. Provide technical direction and coordinate training initiatives.
6. Facilitate shop meetings including 5-minute daily stand-up, biweekly 1×1 with each team member and a monthly staff meeting.
7. Record and monitor inventory levels of department supplies, parts, tools, and fuels, ensure the efficient use of and coordinates orders.
8. Ensure 100% compliance with inventory control system.
9. Monitor accuracy and quality of mechanical work and record keeping on all servicing, repairs, inventory and department maintenance.
10. Perform clerical and administrative functions involved in records keeping and reporting.
11. Count inventory annually.
12. Supervise department budgeting and quarterly reporting.
13. Negotiate with suppliers for contract rates etc.
14. Supervise compliance with the cold weather start-up procedures.
15. Perform mechanical work as required.
16. Consult with/address professional operators to get detailed information on repairs, concerns or equipment failures/condition.
17. Perform and/or assign roadside service/towing as required.
18. Maintain regular communications with Ministry of Transportation Inspectors and MTO standards and mechanical knowledge.
19. Maintain membership in associated organizations.
20. Maintain complete knowledge and comply with company policies, procedures, and standards.
21. Maintain client and company confidence by keeping information confidential and secure.
22. Maintain a positive working relationship with team members and management in a team environment.
23. Set-up and organize individual work area with designated supplies, forms and resource materials while always maintaining cleanliness.
24. Represent the company in a front-line capacity.
