Solution Architect / Sr Data Engineer
Duration: 1 year
Workhours/week: 35
Location: Downtown Toronto (3days/week onsite – mandatory requirement)
Objective: modernize the company’s reporting environment to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility of reporting processes; upgrading existing systems, to cloud based architecture, integrating new technologies, and streamlining workflows.
Requirements:
- Experience as Senior Data / Solution Architect with proven experience in Data Lakehouse architecture
- Expert level experience in Azure Cloud Technologies including Microsoft Fabric
- 10-15 years of strong technical experience in building and maintaining cloud data warehouses and data pipelines to support analytical and operational workloads
- Proficiency in data governance, data modeling, and metadata management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with event-driven architecture, data mesh, data products, or self serve analytics environments.
- Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) or equivalent – highly preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing the overall Data Warehouse Architecture and solution on Microsoft Fabric, providing technical guidance to the team.
- Assist in the development of data pipelines to expedite the overall development process. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the new data warehouse aligns with state-of-the-art design and best practices, ultimately improving data governance, policies, and standardization across the service.
Duties:
- Architect and implement Azure Cloud native Enterprise Data Lakehouse and Data Warehouse solutions integrating structure, unstructured data
- Design scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Apache Spark
- Design and Implement Lakehouse and Data Warehouse Models for seamless data ingestion, transformation, and consumption.
- Develop data governance, security, and compliance frameworks in Microsoft Fabric.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into Microsoft Fabric architecture blueprints.
- Work closely with Data Engineers, BI Developers, and Cloud Architects to implement end-to-end data solutions.
- Guide the migration of legacy systems to Microsoft Fabric.
- Lead architectural decisions and influence the evolution of the company’s data platform for scalability and maintainability
- Create and maintain technical documentation including Architecture Diagrams, Solution Documents, and other related project documentation
