Our Senior Commercial Risk Placement Broker is responsible for designing, securing, and managing effective insurance programs tailored to client risk exposures. This role involves working closely with producers, clients, and insurer partners to assess insurance needs, identify gaps, and provide innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage an assigned commercial book of business across various industry sectors
- Work collaboratively with producers and clients to assess risk exposures and coverage needs
- Identify and address coverage gaps; upsell and cross-sell appropriate insurance solutions
- Prepare detailed marketing submissions, proposals, and binders
- Coordinate placements with insurer partners for both standard and specialty products
- Manage complex placements for mid to large accounts ($50,000 to $1 million+), including U.S. and international risks
- Utilize creativity in structuring proposals and product offerings to meet client needs
- Ensure high-quality documentation and compliance with brokerage standards
Qualifications Required:
- RIBO license, active and in good standing is required
- 7-10 years of Commercial Lines brokerage experience
- Experience in Commercial Surety (POA) is an asset
- Strong technical insurance knowledge in placement of all classes of insurance including specialty products and placement for mid-large multi-line accounts ranging from niche and $50,000 to $1 million, as well as US and International risks
- Some knowledge of specialty products a/o segment needs would be an asset (e.g. Cyber, D&O, E&O, etc.)
- Other industry qualifications such as CAIB, CIP, CRM, etc., would be considered an asset

- Sales-driven approach to account management, the ability to identify coverage gaps, and the ability to upsell and cross-sell
- Strong analytical skills
- Must be a team player and have a strong and positive work ethic
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
- Organized with effective time management skills
- Self-directed and able to coordinate multiple placements for large, multi-line accounts
- Ability to use creativity in structuring product proposals and documentation
- Advanced computer skills with experience in MS Office, EPIC, and PolicyWorks required
- Must have approved and seamless remote work functionality and capability
- Adaptable to a hybrid work environment, combining both remote work and in-office work when required
- Adaptable and flexible in a dynamic environment
- Experience in a “hard” insurance market cycle would be considered an asset
