Buyer/ Supply Chain Specialist

3 month contract potential for extension

Guelph- ONSITE

25-30 hourly

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing, communicating and contributing to the procurement group’s initiatives with internal stakeholders by achieving or exceeding targets.
  • Responsible for all purchase orders, requisitions, maintenance of contracts database and generating statistical information.
  • Manages expiration of agreements, ensuring continuous source of supplies and services
  • Ensuring internal stakeholder needs are consistently met or exceed with a strong emphasis on forward planning by proactively building constructive, respectful and positive relations.
  • Developing partnership relationships with suppliers to continue to deliver benefits by leveraging supplier capabilities.
  • Works with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Assist Sourcing Manager with sourcing qualified vendors through management of the complete RFx process including statement of requirement development, evaluation, contract negotiation, and award.
  • Other responsibilities as required
  • Collaborate with the compliance team to ensure procurement activities align with internal policies.
  • Manage daily purchase order (PO) creation and updates, acting as a junior buyer.
  • Ensure insurance certificates are current and properly documented.
  • Work with SAP Ariba to process POs, update vendor information, and maintain procurement records.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and support reconciliation efforts.
  • Update carrier rates and maintain accurate data in procurement systems.
  • Provide general procurement support, including vendor communication and documentation.
  • Assist with system updates and process improvements as needed.

What You Bring:

  • University or College level education in Commerce or Administration, preferably specializing in Procurement, or equivalent work experience
  • 3 years of experience as a Procurement Professional.
  • Proven time management and organizational skills and ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment
  • Results oriented with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and timelines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential with the ability to work effectively within a team environment and be service oriented
  • Business/financial acumen – understanding of business principles and data and their use in formulating business decisions, ability to formulate decisions based on cost-benefit analyses of situations, applies customer, market, or industry awareness to solving problems
  • Problem Analysis- ability to analyze information, identify critical elements, summarize for review, and identify solutions to problems through the development and evaluation of alternatives
  • Strong communication skills: ability to present recommendations in a manner that gains acceptance, ask in-depth questions
  • Strong written skills, writes effective proposals, business cases, and communications, prepares clear written analyses of issues or problems.
  • Strong skills in MS Office including Excel and PowerPoint
  • SAP (MM module) experience an asset.
  • Ariba experience an asset.
  • Bilingualism an asset
