About the Project:

The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension will bring the Eglinton Crosstown LRT another 9.2 kilometres farther west, creating a continuous rapid transit line from the east end of Toronto into Mississauga. The Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package encompasses the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of key project components.

Position Overview:

The Vertical Communication Specialist will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of vertical transportation and communication systems for the ECWE–SRS project. This role involves managing the design, installation, and integration of elevators, escalators, public address systems, and other vertical communication infrastructure to ensure alignment with project schedules, safety standards, and technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate all vertical communication and transportation system activities across project phases.
  • Interface with design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure alignment with project objectives and specifications.
  • Manage and track progress, identifying and resolving issues that may affect installation timelines or quality.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Participate in design and technical review meetings, providing input on constructability and sequencing.
  • Coordinate with electrical, structural, and mechanical disciplines to ensure seamless integration of systems.
  • Support the preparation and review of technical documentation, drawings, and shop submittals.
  • Provide regular reporting and progress updates to project management and stakeholders.
  • Assist with testing, commissioning, and turnover documentation for vertical communication systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in vertical transportation or communication systems coordination within large-scale infrastructure or building projects.
  • Strong understanding of elevator and communication system design, installation, and commissioning processes.
  • Proven ability to coordinate across multiple trades and manage complex interfaces.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with project management software and technical drawings.
