Transit Windsor is vital public transportation organization providing service to the city of Windsor and surrounding communities include LaSalle, Essex, Kingsville, Amherstburg and Leamington. The mission of Transit Windsor is to provide safe, reliable and affordable public transit for the community through continuous improvement in customer care, environmental stewardship and employee excellence. Transit Windsor serves more than 9 million passengers each year, covering an area of over 310 square km and a population of over 300,000. Every year Transit Windsor travels more than 5.5 million kilometres. During peak weekday travel times, there are approximately 80 buses on the road and 72 buses during weekend and evening peak travel times. This is accomplished with a fleet of 120 fully accessible buses and over 300 service-minded employees.

Most recently Transit Windsor has made a dedicated commitment to customer service through a range of strategic initiatives that include improving transit operations through streamlining of routes and schedules, rationalization of internal transit business operations, fostering sound relations with their union and a range of capital initiatives to ensure modernized assets.

You have a university education, exceptional experience and a track record of managing change, innovation and service improvements in complex, multi-stakeholder, unionized business environments. In addition, you have the unique ability to build collaborative relationships with staff and union leaders in support of renewed business directions. If you’re excited about working with Transit Windsor but your experience is outside of transit operations, we still encourage you to apply with the understanding you can help us lead our transformation initiative. Transit operations experience is a decided asset but not essential.

Reporting to the Deputy CAO/Commissioner, Economic Development, the Executive Director, Transit Windsor, you will be responsible for providingoverall day-to-day department direction and leadership to over 300+ unionized and non-unionized employees while keeping aligned to the goals and directions of Windsor City Council.

As the leader of transit operations, you will re-imagine Windsor’s transit operations through the development of strong and effective relationships with our unions and staff, the delivery of transformative projects that enhance connectivity, improve operational effectiveness, while ensuring exceptional customer service.
