The Opportunity
The Legal Counsel will specialize in contract management and will support the Legal function by providing day-to-day legal assistance across a range of corporate, commercial, and operational matters. The role is well-suited for a lawyer with approximately two years of post-call experience who is seeking to build strong in-house exposure in a dynamic, multi-jurisdictional organization. Working with the Legal team, the Legal Counsel will work closely with internal stakeholders to help manage legal risk, support compliance, and enable business operations.
This is a newly created role intended to support the continued expansion of our Legal team. The position is initially offered as a one-year fixed-term contract and is based at our head office in Vaughan, Ontario. We offer a hybrid work arrangement, providing flexibility to work from home, with an expectation of being in the office 1 day per week, between Monday to Friday. Travel requirements are minimal and expected to be occasional, if any.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with the drafting, review, and negotiation of a variety of commercial agreements, including NDAs, service agreements, supply agreements, and vendor contracts
- Support internal stakeholders by providing practical legal guidance on routine corporate and operational matters
- Conduct legal research and prepare summaries, presentations, and internal guidance materials on applicable laws, regulations, and legal risks
- Assist with corporate governance activities, including maintenance of corporate records and support for board and committee materials
- Support compliance initiatives and internal legal processes, including policy development and implementation
- Assist in managing litigation, disputes, and regulatory matters, including coordination with external counsel where required
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Procurement, Finance, HR, and Operations on legal matters impacting their functions
- Support other legal projects and initiatives as assigned
What You’ll Bring
- Law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) from an accredited institution
- Member in good standing with a Canadian provincial law society (Ontario preferred)
- Approximately 1–3 years of relevant legal experience (in-house or private practice), with exposure to corporate or commercial law
- Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail

Compensation for this position is determined by experience and alignment with role requirements and typically ranges from $90,000 to $100.000.
