Infrastructure Lead (Wintel / Linux)

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Lead to support and evolve a complex enterprise infrastructure spanning on‑premises hybrid clouds and virtualized environments. The role focuses on system stability, security, automation and operational excellence working closely with Infrastructure, Network, Security, GRC, DevOps and Application teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Systems Management
- Support the deployment, configuration and day‑to‑day operation of Windows, Linux and hybrid cloud environments
- Administer VMware platforms including ESXi, vCenter, HA, DRS and vMotion
- End‑to‑end management of backup and storage solutions
- Deploy, configure and maintain Azure Stack HCI and Azure Local clusters
- Manage server hardware, SAN storage and backup platforms; perform hardware repairs and maintenance as required
- Ensure high system availability, performance and capacity planning across environments
- Maintain and support Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions end to end
- Deploy, manage and enhance Managed File Transfer (MFT) solutions
- Administer and scale VMware Horizon VDI environments, including pool creation and optimization
- Identify opportunities to automate infrastructure operations and reduce manual effort
- Network & Security
- Support server‑side network configurations including NICs, IP addressing, VLANs, routing, VPNs and load balancing
- Work closely with Security teams to implement and maintain security best practices
- Assist with vulnerability assessments, remediation activities and security audits
- Manage identity and core services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy
- Configure and report on authentication, access controls, logging and system performance
- Backup, Recovery & Business Continuity
- Support backup and disaster recovery (DR) solutions and operational processes
- Assist with DR automation, validation and participate in scheduled DR testing
- Ensure compliance with data protection, retention and backup standards
- Operations Support
- Troubleshoot and resolve system, application and performance issues
- Support application deployment, installation and configuration activities
- Collaborate with infra dev and project managers to lead infrastructure projects and initiatives
- Act as an escalation point for advanced infrastructure and platform issues
- Participate in on‑call rotations and scheduled maintenance windows
- Maintain service availability in line with defined SLAs
- Automation & Optimization
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Python and Bash
- Support configuration management and automation tooling
- Monitor systems and assist with performance tuning and optimization
- Leverage log monitoring and ingestion tools for proactive issue detection
- Governance & Collaboration
- Ensure systems comply with organizational policies, standards, licensing and procedures
- Operate within ITIL‑based processes including incident, problem and change management
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, vendors and stakeholders
- Participate in DevOps practices and Git‑based workflows
- Contribute to documentation, system improvements and operational runbooks
- Assist with infrastructure cost estimates and effort analysis for projects
Required Skills
- Operating Systems: Windows Server 2019/2022/2025 (advanced), Linux (basic to intermediate, including RHEL)
- Virtualization Platforms: VMware ESXi, vCenter; Azure Stack HCI, Azure Local; Omnissa Horizon VDI
- Managed File Transfer Systems: MoveIT, IP Switch, SFTP
- Storage & Backup: IBM SAN, iSCSI storage; Networker, Data Domain
- Identity & Core Services: Active Directory, DNS (Route53, BIND, NDS), M365, DHCP, Group Policy
- Networking Fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, network segmentation
- Automation & DevOps: PowerShell, Python, Bash; Git‑based workflows; exposure to configuration management tools
- Monitoring & Security: Log monitoring tools; understanding of Zero Trust principles
- ITSM & ITIL: Experience with ITSM tools and ITIL processes
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Microsoft 365 (O365, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint)
- Exposure to AWS and/or Microsoft Azure in a support or operational capacity
- Familiarity with Cisco or Palo Alto networking technologies
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation range: $90,000.00 to $140,000.00 per year.
