Construction Coordinator / Construction Supervisor

This role provides effective construction coordination services to the project in accordance with the Client’s Project management principles of Safety, Quality, Scope, Schedule, and Cost. This role is primarily an individual contributor role that provides support to the Construction Superintendents. This role adds value by monitoring conditions in the field (Safety, Quality, Scope, Schedule, and Cost) that could adversely affect the effective execution of Projects and recommends corrective actions as required for successful completion of the Project. The Construction Coordinator works collaterally with his/her peers in the Project Team and cross functionally with all other areas of the operations to execute the overall construction plan developed by the Construction Manager, Superintendents, and his/her team

Major Accountabilitie

  • s:Attend contractor’s morning lineup and ensure all applicable communications, hazard alerts, etc. have been passed on to contractor’s employees from contractor superviso
  • r.Perform daily site visits to each construction site assigned to the construction coordinator wherever possible given logistical constraint
  • s.Review lessons learned (HIPOT report) from Ontario Operations and, where applicable, implement new best practice
  • s.Conduct at least one formal Workplace Audit / Safety Inspection per wee
  • k.Maintain a daily log that includes safety work. Log entries regarding all surface notes and hazards shall be a collaborative effort between the Surface Development and Surface Construction team
  • s.Communicate any surface issues or hazards that may impact the other surface work groups immediately to Surface Development Lead and impacted coordinators from the Surface Development and Logistics team
  • s.Ensure Contractor provided Project Specific Safety plans are adequate for the safe performance of the work, audit for compliance and recommend follow up actions as require
  • d.Participate in, and where required, facilitate Process Hazard Reviews (PHR) and audit for complianc
  • e.Stop all work in a workplace when the Coordinator has any concerns regarding the safety of the work being performed, and work with the contractor to align performance with safety expectations (Stop and Correct
  • ).Review all JHA’s and Procedures required for the surface construction activitie
  • s.Ensure all Project personnel are informed of potential hazards as require
  • d.Ensure accident or incident investigations are conducted as required by contractors and ensures that the Incident Management guidelines are adhered to. Where required, ensure that an SAP IM report is created for any event to the system per policy, and that action items are completed as require
  • d.Perform accident or incident investigations in situations where a contractor run investigation will not suffic
  • e.Participate in, and where applicable, coordinate the Management of Change process as require
  • d.Ensure the contractors management team and its workforce has constant, consistent and good communication
  • s.Review the Contractor Pre-Mobilization Checklist/qualifications for new and existing contract
  • s.Provide weekly contractor compliance reports to the Surface Construction Lead or Safety Adviso
  • r.For supplied items, provide the Contractor with the applicable Material Safety Data Sheet. For material supplied by the Contractor, acquire the Material Safety Data Sheet
  • s.Coordinates construction activities including pre-construction, contract execution and post audit activitie
  • s.Assist in the development of Project quality plans as required and ensure these plans are execute
  • d.Assists Surface Construction Lead and Detailed Engineer contractor in developing detailed scopes for tende
  • r.Read and acquire an overall understanding of the scope of work for each contractor, and manage all work by the contractors to these scope
  • s.Act as day-to-day contact for all surface construction contractor
