About the Role

The Company is seeking an Academic Chair for the Edna Edwards School of Nursing. This key leadership role is focused on ensuring the delivery of an integrated and exceptional learning experience for students. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the nursing program, including faculty and staff management, curriculum oversight, and collaboration on academic processes. The role also involves leading the Indigenization and decolonization of the curriculum, managing change, and overseeing financial operations. The Academic Chair will be a pivotal figure in the development and maintenance of operational plans, as well as leading new program initiatives and change management practices.

Applicants for the Academic Chair position must have appropriate nursing credentials, a relevant degree (Master’s preferred), and current nursing experience. The role requires a deep understanding of the nursing industry, including trends and developments, and a commitment to the spirit of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategic and operational planning, programming, and budgeting, and be adept at managing relationships both within the college and with external partners. Professional competencies such as maintaining professional associations, attending workshops, and updating credentials are essential, as are personal competencies including resilience, excellent communication, and the ability to lead and manage change.
