Our Client
Our client is a well-established, full-service defence litigation firm with a significant presence in Western Canada. The firm’s has a flexible hybrid work model (three days in-office, two remote). The firm maintains a diverse insurance and complex litigation practice and is experiencing continued growth. With significant capacity to expand across multiple specialty areas, the firm is strategically strengthening its mid-level bench strength to support ongoing client demand.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will join a dynamic litigation team and will manage a litigation practice with a focus on one or more of the following areas:
- Insurance coverage
- Class actions
- Construction Litigation
- Errors & Omissions (E&O)
- Employment Practices Liability (EPL)
The successful candidate will:
- Handle files with increasing autonomy while collaborating with senior partners
- Conduct examinations for discovery, mediations, and court appearances
- Draft pleadings, written advocacy, and complex legal opinions
- Contribute to strategic case development and client relationship management
- Participate in marketing and business development initiatives (target: approximately 50 hours annually)
Requirements
- 7–10 years’ call (or comparable experience) preferred
- Strong background in insurance litigation, coverage, class actions, or abuse litigation
- Experience handling files with a degree of independence
- Demonstrated advocacy skills and strong written work product
- Commercially minded with an interest in long-term growth within a firm
- Candidates with split practices beyond pure motor vehicle defense will be considered; exclusively motor vehicle-focused practices are not preferred
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, partner-heavy environment
