Location: Greater Montreal Area (Base: Saint-Léonard / Travel between retail plaza sites)

Schedule: Monday to Friday (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM / 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM) + On-Call Rotation

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Building Operator to join the property management team supporting a dynamic portfolio of retail plaza properties across the Greater Montreal region. You will be responsible for day-to-day building maintenance, tenant relations, and operational efficiency across multiple commercial retail sites. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical professional who thrives on variety, moves quickly, and can hit the ground running.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Inspections & Operations: Perform regular site visits and physical inspections across designated retail plaza locations (Saint-Léonard, Repentigny, Lachenaie, Charlemagne, Côte-des-Neiges, and Lorraine).
  • Preventative & Corrective Maintenance: Oversee and execute routine mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance to ensure properties are operating safely and efficiently.
  • Work Order Management: Utilize Angus AnyWhere to track, update, and close work orders, maintain maintenance logs, and manage tenant service requests.
  • Tenant & Contractor Coordination: Act as a key point of contact for retail tenants. Coordinate and supervise external trade contractors and service vendors on site.
  • Emergency Response: Participate in the local on-call rotation to address after-hours operational emergencies when required.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 2–3+ years of experience in building operations or facility maintenance (commercial/retail background strongly preferred; open to candidates with solid residential property experience).
  • Technical Certification: BES (Building Environmental Systems) certification or Power Engineering background is a strong asset.
  • Tech-Savvy: Experience working with property management software (experience with Angus is a major plus).
  • Mobility: Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle (required for daytime travel across multi-site retail plazas).
  • Language: Bilingual in French and English (stronger French proficiency required; basic/functional English).
  • Soft Skills: Autonomous, strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a proactive attitude with the ability to manage priorities across multiple locations.
