Position: Manager, Business Development
Department: Logistics & Container Services
Location: Vaughan (in-person, daily)
Working Days/Hours: Monday to Friday 9 am – 5 pm
Availability: 24/7 – Including weekends and holidays
Reports To: CEO
Travel: Required, 2-3 times a month (Company-paid)
Salary Range: 100-120k CAD

Our employer is a leading logistics company operating a fleet of more than 200 power units and over 800 chassis across four offices in Canada with strategically located yards close to key rail terminals in Mississauga, Montreal, Calgary, and Edmonton. The employer has 15 acres of secured yard storage for both short and long-term storage requirements nationwide.
Position Overview:
The primary focus is leading the team and making critical decisions 24/7, including during weekends and holidays. This is an extremely high-pressure environment with numerous real-time decisions. The selected candidate will be surrounded by experts in the field, constantly challenged to grow and excel. Therefore, the candidate must be passionate, eager to learn, and capable of leading teams effectively. Additionally, the candidate must have a car to facilitate frequent travel requirements.
The Manager, Business Development will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities related to container logistics. This role demands exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and extensive experience in logistics and business development. The ideal candidate will have a strong entrepreneurial spirit, excellent multitasking abilities, and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development: Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in the logistics and container services sector.
- Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders to foster long-term partnerships.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic business plans to achieve growth targets and expand market presence.
- Travel: Frequently travel to Montreal, Edmonton, and Calgary to meet with clients, attend industry events, and explore new business opportunities.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of business development professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Project Management: Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and successful delivery in a high-pressure environment.
- Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on business development activities, progress, and results to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of managerial experience in business development, preferably within the logistics and container services industry.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA) is a plus.
Good to have:
- Familiarity with CN/CP rail.
- Drayage industry knowledge.
