Description

Regional Coordinator

Coordinate Nation Head Representatives across one of CAFCAN’s 5 African regional blocks (North / West / Central / East / Southern Africa). Bridge regional priorities to the federation’s strategic agenda — serving African-Canadian football communities from every province.

Time

~8 hours per month on average.

Term

2 years, renewable once.

Compensation

Volunteer role with an annual honorarium-style activity budget (CAFCAN-managed) for regional events, travel and team-building.

What you get

  • Senior CAFCAN credential — Regional Coordinator title with public profile page.
  • Voting seat at the Annual General Assembly + agenda input.
  • Annual regional activity budget you control (events, training, recognition).
  • Free executive-level training: governance, conflict resolution, sport leadership.
  • Full branded leadership kit (jacket, polo, formal wear allowance for AGM).
  • All travel + accommodation covered for AGM and federation-wide meetings.
  • Strong reference + visibility for board-level opportunities inside CAFCAN.
  • Direct working relationship with the Executive — your priorities shape strategy.

Core duties

  • Chair a quarterly call with every Head Rep in your region.
  • Consolidate monthly updates from your nations into a single regional brief for the General Secretary.
  • Propose at least one cross-nation initiative per year (festival, joint training camp, scholarship pool).
  • Mediate inter-nation disputes within the region before escalating to the Disciplinary Committee.

Growth & recruitment

  • Grow the region together — actively recruit National Representatives for any nation in your region that doesn’t yet have one, and recommend candidates to the General Secretary.
  • Set and own a regional growth target each year (new National Reps + new Deputies + cross-nation member growth), ratified by the General Secretary.
  • Identify and nurture future Head Reps among Deputies and other active members — your region’s pipeline is your responsibility.
  • Build cross-nation pipelines: when a nation in your region is over-resourced and another under-resourced, broker introductions and shared activations.
  • Track each nation’s recruitment performance monthly, celebrate wins, and surface blockers to the General Secretary.
  • Champion ethical, inclusive recruitment across the region — Pan-African, Continental and Allied applicants are welcomed and routed to the right seat.

Responsibilities

  • Hold full safeguarding and code-of-conduct posture.
  • Be impartial across your region’s nations — no favoritism.
  • Attend the annual General Assembly in person or by video.
  • Own the region’s representation completeness — no nation should sit empty without an active recruitment plan.

Requirements

  • Hold an active CAFCAN Member Number.
  • Demonstrate at least 3 years of community organising or coaching experience serving the African-Canadian communities of the African region you’d represent.
  • Lived knowledge of the region’s African-Canadian communities — their cultures, norms, languages and history. Strong existing relationships across multiple nations in the region.
  • Reside IN Canada with strong existing ties to the region’s African-Canadian communities across multiple provinces (physical relocation is NOT required — clubs of every African region live in every province).
  • Hold a valid status that legally permits you to volunteer/work in Canada (citizen, permanent resident, or eligible work permit).
  • Be 18+.
