Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Cinematographer role based in Toronto, ON. The Cinematographer will plan and execute visual storytelling for brand, product, and project videos, working closely with creative directors, designers, and producers to translate design concepts into compelling moving images. Day-to-day responsibilities include operating cameras, selecting lenses, and framing shots for studio and on-location shoots in residential, commercial, and cultural environments. The role involves designing and setting up lighting to highlight materials, textures, and spatial atmospheres, as well as collaborating on shot lists, storyboards, and production schedules. The Cinematographer will oversee image quality during capture, provide input on color and mood, and support post-production teams with visual references and technical guidance.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Camera Operation and Cinematography, with the ability to craft intentional compositions and shot sequences.
- Hands-on experience in Video Production and Film Production, including pre-production planning, on-set workflows, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Lighting design and setup for interior and architectural environments, with an eye for material, texture, and atmosphere.
- Experience working in design, architecture, or interiors-related content is an asset, with a portfolio demonstrating relevant visual storytelling.
- Familiarity with digital cinema cameras, lenses, and basic grip equipment; understanding of color profiles and exposure tools.
- Ability to work on site in Toronto, ON, manage time effectively, and adapt to evolving creative direction and production needs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with openness to feedback and a commitment to inclusive, respectful teamwork.
- Post-secondary education in film, media production, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
