We are seeking a motivated Litigation lawyer to become a part of our team in the Mississauga head office. This is an opportunity to build on your practice under our highly experienced and growing team. Encouraged to bring in an existing book of business.
Practice areas of law/ responsibilities for this role:
- Real Estate litigation (both residential and commercial)
- Business litigation
- Corporate litigation
- Breach of contract
- Landlord and tenant board
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and conduct all aspects of civil litigation files independently
- Draft pleadings, motions, affidavits, and legal correspondence
- Attend court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, and discoveries
- Develop case strategies and provide practical legal advice to clients
- Negotiate settlements and represent clients at hearings and trials
- Maintain strong client relationships and provide timely communication
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless file management
Skills/Qualifications Required:
- MUST have 5+ years of working experience as a litigator
- Previous experience of real estate and business litigation an asset
- Strong research skills and ability to draft efficiently and diligently
- Experience with drafting pleadings and other court documents
- Ability to handle litigation files with minimal supervision but will have firm’s full support in training and guidance
- Must possess excellent organizational skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to have strong relationships with clients
- Ability to speak in more than one language is a plus
Additional requirements:
- Called to the Ontario Bar
- License in good standing with the LSO
- Excellent academic credentials
Salary: Commensurate with experience
