Salary: Up to $110K
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage a wide range of litigation documents, including pleadings, motion materials, affidavits of documents, discovery materials, arbitration, trial, and appeal records.
- Attend examinations for discovery and cross-examinations, take detailed notes, and manage undertakings, refusals, and transcript reviews.
- Track and coordinate complex litigation files, including scheduling team meetings, monitoring deadlines, issuing pleadings, and maintaining counsel and case records.
- Draft and review factums, appeal materials, books of authority, citations, cost outlines, and bills of costs.
- Correspond with counsel, clients, court staff, and Commercial List offices on complex insolvency and restructuring matters.
- Review and assist with restructuring documentation.
- Conduct and summarize corporate, bankruptcy, Bank Act, and PPSA searches, including registrations, renewals, and reporting.
- Maintain electronic case bundles in Case Centre in accordance with court requirements.
- Coordinate e-Discovery documents with third-party providers, prepare discovery plans, and conduct searches
- Support Civil and Commercial litigation cases at all levels of court in Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada, including tribunals
Qualifications:
- Law Clerk diploma or Legal Assistant diploma from an accredited institution.
- 5+ years of experience as a Litigation Law Clerk or Legal Assistant, with exposure to complex commercial litigation and insolvency matters.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario court procedures, Commercial List practices, and Notices to Profession.
- Proven experience preparing motion, trial, appeal, and enforcement materials in high-value or complex files.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities, with advanced proficiency in e-Discovery platforms such as Relativity, Case Centre, and Microsoft Office.
