Hooker Associates Ltd is a medium sized Quantity Surveying / Construction Cost Consultants / Project Management company for the construction industry with over fifty years of experience in the industry. Our expertise is collective with experts in all disciplines including Architectural, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and including departments with expertise in Independent certifier roles and Project Management.
We are currently seeking a Construction Project Manager in our Project Management department located in Ontario with the ability to travel throughout the GTA, Greater Ottawa Area, as well as other Provinces when needed for multiple infrastructure projects who are ambitious, goal-oriented and motivated by a challenge and have a minimum of 5-10+ years experience. Responsibilities:
- Perform Monthly Site Visit reviews
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure successful project execution.
- Prepare and oversee project schedules, budgets, and construction contracts, including procurement, tender administration, and progress monitoring.
- Manage building permit applications and approvals while ensuring compliance with client objectives and applicable regulations.
- Facilitate meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes, follow up on action items, and maintain adherence to document control requirements.
- Deliver accurate and timely updates on project progress, risks, and challenges to support client decision-making.
- Administer contracts and service agreements throughout all project phases, including project closeout, turnover documentation, and warranty management.
- PQS or PMP or P.Eng designation required.
- Perform site visits throughout Ontario and other provinces to review progress of works, manage handover of projects to client operations team.
Qualifications
- Experience in highly serviced sectors such as industrial warehouses, retail and entertainment buildings, community housing and so on.
- Should be able to read and understand contracts and review a large volume of complex documentation monthly.
- Familiarity with various procurement routes.
- Proficient in scheduling tools like MS Project, and Primavera P6.
- Having a good understanding of construction processes and contracts
- Demonstrates a team-oriented approach with strong leadership skills and a commitment to achieving the best project outcomes.
- Skilled at recognizing opportunities for process improvement and driving efficiencies across all phases of a project.
- Strong technical knowledge of construction practices, including value engineering and cost-optimization strategies.
- Highly proficient in spreadsheet analysis, report preparation, and professional presentation creation.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proven experience in business development, stakeholder engagement, and fostering long-term client relationships.
- Knowledge of PC-based spreadsheets (MS Excel) and general computer skills are essential.
- Degree, diploma, or professional certification in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline; industry accreditation or professional association membership is considered an asset.
- Travel to sites is required with your own vehicle. Sites may be located in the Toronto area (GTA), other locations in the province (such as Ottawa, Windsor) and out-of-province.
Additional Information
The base salary range for this full-time role is $100,000 – $125,000 per year dependent on experience and role.
