About the Project

The Connect 6ix project is a consortium-led contract responsible for delivering the Rolling Stock, Systems, Operations and Maintenance (RSSOM) package for the Ontario Line — a new 15.6 km rapid transit subway running across Toronto. This includes the trains, signaling, communications systems, and the operations and maintenance facility. Connect 6ix will also operate and maintain the line for 30 years. https://connect6ix.ca/

Role and Responsibilities

Ensures compliance with the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) guidelines of the Group:

  • Enforces safety and evacuation procedures, leading by example (responsible driving, wearing PPE on-site, etc.).
  • Promotes a preventive approach and ensures the health and safety of team members (RPS, working conditions, etc.).
  • Contributes to the implementation of the Action Plan, performance review, and roadmap within their scope.
  • Establish (using Estimate) and maintaining the project budget
  • Review major changes or deviations in scope, budget, or schedule and obtaining accurate estimates of hours and cost involved
  • Arrange and coordinate the monthly progress report and progress review meetings with key players
  • Capture and analyse all project costs
  • Work closely with construction to have all invoices and any other costs properly coded and ensure all costs are captured properly by activity codes as identified in the budget and updated coding of forecasts
  • Provide trends (potential changes to original numbers) and recommendations
  • Provide accruals by activity code, with input of construction and help from contract administrator
  • Update job cost report monthly and be able to provide deviation analysis based on the findings of the job cost report after the update
  • Construction weekly report
  • Earned Value % and analysis
  • Staffing (list of current personnel and needs for hiring if required of non-manual hours) updates for the specific project(s)
  • Direct Hour – collecting the hours (hours spent) and reporting
  • Project Monthly Report
  • Change Management (RFQ, Change Notices), extra works (scope changes), and variations analysis
  • Implement and maintain project cash flow, cost forecast, revenue, accounts receivables and billings on a monthly basis and when required from site and home office management
  • Establish, prepare material, and lead trend meetings
  • Follow up and ensure quality control of client billings
  • Other ad hoc requests based on functional (PC) and project needs

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in construction and/or management/cost control
  • Analytical skills through education BSc in engineering, business administration etc.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis (Power BI, SQL, Power Query)
  • Budget planning, cost tracking, and variance analysis
  • Strong understanding of financial and project KPIs
  • Reporting support (Cost and Project Performance Reports)
  • Engineering or construction background is a plus
  • Knowledge of procurement and contract workflows
  • Team-oriented with experience in construction environments

The expected salary is 100K-105K.
