As part of continued growth in the mission critical and digital infrastructure sector, the firm is expanding its data centre project delivery group. This team supports the planning, coordination, engineering, and execution of complex data centre projects across North America.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Data Centre Engineer with a civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering background to support the design, coordination, and execution of mission critical infrastructure projects.

This role will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, contractors, vendors, and clients to deliver high performance data centre facilities that meet technical, operational, schedule, and budget requirements.

The successful candidate will contribute to engineering design, technical coordination, project execution, field support, and quality control activities across multiple phases of data centre project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, architectural, and controls disciplines.
• Participate in the preparation and review of engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Support project planning, scheduling, procurement, and technical coordination activities.
• Review engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, standards, and client expectations.
• Assist with the development of project execution plans, design basis documents, and engineering reports.
• Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and coordination sessions with clients, vendors, and contractors.
• Support equipment selection, procurement activities, and technical bid evaluations.
• Provide support during construction, commissioning, and start-up activities as required.
• Coordinate with field teams and contractors to address technical issues and support project execution.
• Support quality assurance and quality control activities throughout project delivery.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, engineering standards, and internal best practices.

Core Competencies

• 4 to 10 years of experience in engineering design, project engineering, or infrastructure project delivery.
• Experience with data centres, mission critical facilities, industrial facilities, or large infrastructure projects is considered an asset.
• Civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering background with a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Familiarity with data centre systems such as power distribution, cooling systems, backup power systems, structural systems, site development, or related infrastructure is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of applicable engineering codes, standards, and industry best practices relevant to the candidate’s discipline.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering or design software relevant to the candidate’s discipline.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, ETAP, SKM, BIM platforms, or similar tools is considered an asset.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams in a fast-paced project environment.

Education and Experience

• Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer, P.Eng., is considered an asset.
• Experience in EPCM, engineering consulting, construction, infrastructure, data centre, mission critical, or industrial project environments is considered an asset.
