eDiscovery Law Clerk
Duration: 3-month contract with potential extension or conversion
Location: Hybrid (Toronto – 1 day onsite per week)
We are seeking a detail-oriented eDiscovery Law Clerk to support litigation and regulatory matters within a large enterprise legal environment. This role will assist with the management of electronic discovery activities, legal hold processes, and case documentation while partnering closely with legal teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors.
Responsibilities:
- Support the end-to-end management of eDiscovery matters from initiation through completion.
- Assist with the preparation, issuance, and tracking of legal hold notices.
- Conduct and document custodian interviews and data source information gathering activities.
- Coordinate the identification, collection, preservation, and transfer of electronically stored information (ESI).
- Maintain case documentation, chain of custody records, and matter tracking information.
- Support legal teams with document review workflows and review management activities.
- Monitor matter status and provide updates to stakeholders as required.
- Coordinate legal hold release activities and case closure processes.
- Act as a liaison between legal teams, business stakeholders, external counsel, and third-party vendors.
- Provide administrative, legal, and technical support related to eDiscovery and litigation activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive legal and business information.
Required Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of experience within a legal environment, or recent completion of a Law Clerk, Paralegal, or related post-secondary program.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, legal documentation, and litigation processes.
- Comfortable learning and using new technologies and legal platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent proofreading and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Nice to Have:
- Experience within financial services or other regulated industries.
- Exposure to litigation support or eDiscovery activities.
- Experience using eDiscovery review platforms such as Relativity.
- Experience working in high-volume legal environments.
