Senior Architectural Technologist / Junior Architect

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Technologist with 10+ years of experience or Junior Architect to support the planning, design, coordination, and execution of construction projects from concept through completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, construction detailing expertise, consultant coordination experience, and the ability to contribute to both design development and construction administration.

This role works closely with project managers, consultants, clients, and construction teams to develop high-quality, code-compliant, and buildable projects across residential, commercial, institutional, industrial, or modular construction sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate architectural drawings, permit packages, and construction documents using Revit and/or AutoCAD
  • Develop detailed plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and specifications
  • Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil consultants
  • Assist with conceptual design, space planning, and technical problem solving
  • Review building code requirements, zoning regulations, and permit submissions
  • Conduct site reviews, field measurements, and construction inspections
  • Review and respond to RFIs, shop drawings, and submittals during construction
  • Support project scheduling, budgeting, and overall project coordination
  • Assist in construction administration and contract documentation
  • Mentor junior drafting or technical staff where applicable
  • Ensure project documentation accuracy, quality, and consistency
  • Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and clients throughout all project phases

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Architectural Technology or Degree in Architecture
  • relevant industry experience
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and detailing
  • Experience preparing permit and construction drawing packages
  • Strong communication, organizational, and coordination skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently
  • Experience in modular, commercial, residential, or industrial construction considered an asset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered or eligible for registration with applicable professional association considered an asset
  • Experience with BIM coordination and consultant management
  • Construction administration and field review experience
  • Knowledge of local municipal permitting processes and Canadian building codes
