Join Legal Aid Alberta as a Full-Time Duty Counsel Lawyer serving Calgary courts. Deliver exceptional legal advocacy and support to unrepresented clients, especially in complex cases.<br/><br/>As a key member of our team, youll provide Duty Counsel representation in criminal courts while ensuring adherence to the Law Society’s standards. You will process legal triage, interview clients, and work collaboratively with Court staff and other stakeholders, making a significant impact in the lives of clients facing legal challenges.<br/><br/>Key Responsibilities:
• Provide representation in adult and youth criminal courts
• Deliver legal advice and resolution services to clients
• Advocate at administrative tribunals for mental health issues
• Conduct client interviews and resolution discussions
• Maintain accurate file management and documentation<br/><br/>Requirements:
• Law degree from a recognized institution
• Membership in good standing with Law Society of Alberta
• 5 years of experience in criminal law
• Strong understanding of relevant legal acts
