An established organization is seeking a<br/><br/>Head of Tax<br/><br/>to join its finance leadership team. This position offers the opportunity to lead both the Canadian and U.S. tax functions while providing strategic oversight across tax compliance, reporting, planning, and cross-border initiatives. The successful candidate will partner with senior leadership to support business growth, acquisitions, tax risk management, and continuous improvement of the organizations tax function.
What Youll Do<br/><br/>Lead the Canadian and U.S. tax functions, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax legislation, filing requirements, and reporting obligations.
Oversee quarterly and annual income tax provisions, tax reporting, reconciliations, and related financial statement disclosures.
Provide tax leadership and strategic guidance on mergers, acquisitions, corporate transactions, and organizational changes.
Manage transfer pricing policies, documentation, and cross-border tax matters to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Serve as the primary contact for government tax audits, regulatory inquiries, and relationships with external advisors and auditors.
Monitor changes in Canadian and U.S. tax legislation, assessing business impact and recommending practical solutions.
Partner with Finance, Treasury, Legal, and other business leaders to provide timely advice on complex tax matters and future tax planning.
Oversee tax payments, estimates, and tax account reconciliations while ensuring accurate financial reporting.
Drive process improvements, tax technology initiatives, and automation to improve efficiency, scalability, and tax governance.
Lead, mentor, and develop the tax team while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
What Youll Bring<br/><br/>CPA designation required; additional U.S. tax credentials or advanced tax education are considered an asset.
10+ years of progressive tax experience, including leadership within complex corporate environments.
Extensive expertise in both Canadian and U.S. taxation, including corporate tax compliance, tax provisions, cross-border taxation, transfer pricing, and M&A tax.
Strong knowledge of IFRS tax reporting, tax governance, and financial reporting requirements.
Experience supporting acquisitions, corporate transactions, and organizational growth initiatives.
Hands-on experience with ERP systems, tax technology, and process improvement initiatives.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Background in public accounting combined with in-house corporate tax experience is strongly preferred.
