This led to DUCA’s designation as a B-Corp certified organization, the first ever credit union to receive this global recognition.JOB PURPOSE & SUMMARY The Vice President, Total Rewards & HR Operations proactively develops total rewards / compensation and operational strategies, programs, practices, and policies ensuring alignment with DUCA’s purpose, culture, and strategic imperatives. In addition to being accountable for overall strategy, this role provides tactical direction and leadership for compensation, benefits, and wellbeing programs to attract and retain top talent. This role is accountable for effective leadership and results for the Total Rewards & Payroll team, the HR Operations team, and provides oversight to DUCA’s subsidiaries as needed. This role is accountable for the proactive assessment, mitigation and communication of total compensation-related risks and ensures adherence to all applicable legislation.The VP, Total Rewards & HR Operations serves as a role model in operational planning and execution, trouble shooting and proactively mitigating for risks, and for demonstrating DUCA’s values. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy. This leader will collaboratively partner with key stakeholders to provide and collect applicable data and ensure DUCA’s total rewards and HR operations strategy is delivering against the critical needs and expectations of the organization.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & DUTIES Consistently demonstrate the DUCA Values of bringing out the best in others, doing what’s right even when it’s difficult, and making what’s possible happenLead the Total Rewards & Payroll and HR Operations teams as well as oversee DUCA’s subsidiaries, including areas such as job design & evaluation, organizational design, analytics, HRIS, compliance, learning operations, and general employee lifecycle activities ensuring overall efficiency through the management of people and technologyEnsure annual and long-term direction is understood and objectives are met; create and implement effective short and long-term resourcing plans; implement “early warning signs” and mitigating strategies for team capacity stressors; report status of same regularly to P&C leadership; establish and meet internal (P&C) and DUCA-wide service standardsLead, build, and drive the HR Operations and the Total Rewards strategies and DUCA’s compensation philosophy; develop a holistic total rewards strategy to drive performance in the short and long-term in support of DUCA’s business objectives; lead the design and review of pension, group benefit, and other compensation and total rewards related programsOn an ongoing basis, proactively evaluate DUCA’s total rewards strategy and compensation philosophy, assessing DUCA’s compensation landscape and the effectiveness of existing programs, policies, guidelines, and procedures; ensure DUCA’s compensation philosophy is consistently applied across the organizationProvide expertise, counsel, and effectively communicate with People & Culture (P&C) team members and DUCA’s people leaders on compensation, job design and/or job evaluation decisions, policies, and guidelines; oversee job design activities and act as the subject matter expert / consultant for senior level or complex organizational and/or job design discussions and decisions; conduct executive leveljob evaluations; and provide hands on support for non-executive job evaluations when neededInitiate and conduct conversations with all levels of leadership to provide education and understanding of DUCA’s total rewards strategy, programs, and practices; ensure the organizationunderstands how compensation decisions are madeProvide strategic and directional support for organizational or department initiatives, including activities related to M&A due diligence and integration, jurisdiction or business line expansions, subsidiary development, re-design of organization structures or functional alignments, and HR related systems selection and integrationCreate an environment of continuous improvement and implement operational efficiencies in Total Rewards and HR Operations’ processes, and procedures; drive process improvements through identification of opportunities to automate and leverage technologies across the employee lifecycle; oversee the alignment and integration of HR technology to ensure it is developed and leveraged to meet organizational information needsEnsure high risk deliverables such as payroll, annual compensation cycle, Executive-level modelling and reporting, and benefits administration are delivered error-free and on-time; assess existing and develop new internal controls to mitigate financial, compliance or other risks; conduct regular effectiveness monitoring and reporting of internal controlsEnsure that current policies and procedures are regularly assessed and updated to ensure efficiency, regulatory, compliance, and attainment of best practicesKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCESeasoned Total Rewards professional with a minimum of 15 years related experience ideally gained in a financial services environmentAt least 10 years of experience as a people leader in compensation, job / organizational design and evaluation, pension, benefits ideally within a fast-paced, frequently changing organizationCHRL and CCP designation (or equivalent)Deep compensation expertise in designing, updating, and implementing compensation philosophies and programs in a growing organizationDemonstrated success in gaining executive level buy in for compensation related initiatives such as market reviews and partnering with external compensation consultantsExperience with leading or supporting organization wide initiatives such as M&A activities and jurisdiction or business line expansions as well as experience leading the selection and implementation of an HRISDemonstrated expertise with Executive level reporting and communicationsDemonstrated excellence in work prioritization, time management, and judgmentHighly effective at driving and leading conversations and resolving issues with internal and external stakeholders, including outside consultants and executive-level leadersExperience with process design/re-design/automation for max efficiency and effectivenessExceptional resilience skillsProven experience in leading, motivating and developing a high-performance teamStrategic thinker with solid business acumen who sees the big picture and can provide proactive counsel to executive and senior leadersUnquestionable integrity, ethics, and standardsA confident, proactive, self-starter who is skilled in taking initiative, assessing requirements, devising plans and taking the lead in making plans a realityStrong relationship building skills with the ability to connect with different functional areas at all levelsMore interested in getting things done than who gets the work done;
