The opportunity

We are seeking a Human Resources Manager to join ORION in a key leadership role responsible for both shaping and delivering the organization’s HR function. Reporting to the CFO, this role provides full-spectrum HR leadership, balancing strategic input with hands-on execution across all aspects of human resources.

This is an opportunity to build on a strong existing HR foundation and play a central role in advancing ORION’s people strategies. The successful candidate will partner closely with leadership to enhance employee engagement, drive effective people practices, and ensure compliance, while remaining actively involved in day-to-day HR operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the full-cycle HR function, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and offboarding
  • Act as the primary HR advisor to managers and employees, providing guidance on best practices, policies, and employee-related matters
  • Develop, update, and implement HR policies and programs aligned with organizational values and compliant with Ontario employment legislation
  • Support leadership in driving employee engagement, culture, and retention initiatives, including development planning
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, including sourcing, interviewing, and offer administration
  • Oversee HRIS (Collage) and employee records to ensure accuracy, compliance, and effective reporting
  • Develop and analyze HR metrics to inform decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Support change management initiatives and organizational priorities, including return-to-office practices
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrolment, changes, and renewals
  • Maintain and evolve compensation frameworks to support market competitiveness
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and leverage technology to enhance efficiency

Skills and qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience
  • 6+ years of progressive, broad HR experience in a generalist capacity
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and HR best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and operationally in a hands-on environment
  • High emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence, advise, and challenge stakeholders constructively
  • Experience with HRIS platforms (experience with Collage is an asset)
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities independently
  • CHRP or CHRL designation is considered an asset
  • Experience in a not-for-profit or similarly complex, stakeholder-driven environment is an asset

The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $95,000, commensurate with skills and experience. ORION offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including:
