Matchplay Marketing is a full-service design, marketing and communications firm specializing in world-class private clubs and resorts. We understand the business of clubs—golf and multi-sport facilities— because that’s what we’ve done for more than two decades.

Role Summary

As an intermediate graphic designer, you’ll support our Creative Director in the development of everything from club magazines and newsletters, promotional collateral, web and social assets, and other content for both print and digital audiences. You’ll work closely with our Managing Editor and account managers to ensure that content and design needs are delivered to clients on schedule and in alignment with the broader scope of each project. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of professional graphic design experience (agency or editorial preferred)
  • Strong experience designing magazines, newsletters, reports, or long-form content, along with web-based articles, PDFs, or interactive publications
  • Ability to create compelling layouts that guide the reader with appropriate hierarchy, pacing, and flow
  • Ability to balance text and visual layouts effectively with attention to spacing, alignment and consistency
  • Detailed understanding of typography (pairing, readability, rhythm)
  • Experience applying (and evolving) brand guidelines across editorial formats
  • A creative eye for developing new, fresh design ideas while maintaining consistent themes and brand elements
  • Intermediate to advanced abilities in Adobe Suite
  • Comfortable juggling multiple, concurrent project deadlines, clients, and quick turnarounds
  • Comfort collaborating with writers, editors, and project managers 
  • Ability to own responsibility for a project from concept through completion
  • Strong attention to detail with experience proofing layouts and monitoring for errors or inconsistencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing for printed publications, including magazines and books
  • Experience with basic animation for web-based content
  • Experience using the ReadyMag design software
  • Ability to design simple, custom graphics and icons
  • Ability to edit photography and video for publication
  • Knowledge of or passion for golf and/or private club and high-end resort culture and lifestyle
  • Degree or diploma in graphic design or a related field

This is a full-time position, and all work will be completed remotely within Ontario. Exact compensation will be commensurate with experience. Please be prepared to provide a portfolio of past design work.
