Role Overview<br/><br/>We are seeking a proactive, hands‑on legal professional to join our global Legal Team in New York. The successful candidate will report to the Assistant General Counsel and drive corporate governance excellence across our North American operations, manage legal risks, and support commercial and compliance teams in negotiating a wide range of agreements.
Responsibilities<br/><br/>Manage day‑to‑day legal matters arising from US and Canadian operations, including corporate governance issues.
Advise on and negotiate a wide range of commercial arrangements for the North American business.
Anticipate, identify and escalate potential legal concerns.
Provide support within the Legal Department on matters related to employment, intellectual property, privacy, cybersecurity, compliance, and other legal issues that may arise globally.
Support the delivery of strategic projects for the Legal Department.
Contribute to team development, scaling, efficiency and continuous improvement.
Qualifications<br/><br/>Minimum of 2years of hands‑on experience with a law firm or as in‑house counsel (impact matters more than tenure).
Strong foundation in corporate governance.
Bar membership in good standing, or actively pursuing apprenticeship/qualification toward it.
Ability to manage complexity—able to sense high‑quantity or contradictory information and solve problems.
Planning and organizational skills, with a strong ability to prioritize tasks and deliver high‑quality results on time.
Strategic thinking with a detail‑oriented approach to execution, compliance and proactive risk management.
Nice to have: Experience in FinTech, FX/trading, derivatives, payment services or cryptocurrency from a commercial and legal perspective.
Nice to have: Regulatory experience within the global financial services industry.
