About Origami HR

Origami HR is a boutique HR and leadership consulting firm that partners with growing, service-based organizations across North America. We specialize in leadership development, talent strategy, fractional HR, and people performance initiatives that help organizations scale intentionally.

Our work is highly bespoke, relationship-driven, and built around real business needs, not off-the-shelf solutions. We partner closely with our clients as trusted advisors and an extension of their teams, combining strategic thinking with practical execution.

As Origami HR continues to grow, we’re building a curated network of experienced consultants to support learning design, leadership development, facilitation, and talent development engagements across our client portfolio.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Learning & Development Consultant to support client engagements on a contract basis. We anticipate consultants supporting a mix of shorter-term and ongoing client engagements depending on expertise, availability, and active project needs, with the volume of work varying naturally throughout the year. This role is ideal for an instructional design and adult learning expert we can trust to take a training project and run with it from start to finish, from the first conversation about the business need through to a professional, well-crafted learning experience that creates real change.

What You’ll Be Doing

Depending on the engagement, responsibilities may include:

  • Leading training projects end to end, from discovery and needs analysis through design, development, delivery, and evaluation
  • Conducting learning needs assessments and stakeholder interviews to ground design in real business priorities
  • Translating organizational challenges into practical, business-focused learning solutions
  • Designing learning programs, curricula, and learning journeys grounded in adult learning principles
  • Developing professional learning assets such as facilitator guides, participant materials, and job aids
  • Facilitating workshops and learning sessions across a range of audiences and topics
  • Building assessments and measures that show whether the learning is working
  • Managing day-to-day communication across assigned workstreams with professionalism, responsiveness, and strong client judgment

What Makes Someone Successful Here

The strongest consultants in this role are:

  • Deep experts in adult learning and instructional design principles
  • Skilled at creating high-impact learning experiences that wow our clients
  • Exceptional communicators with strong client presence
  • Comfortable working independently with strong ownership and follow-through
  • Able to navigate ambiguity and shifting client needs with professionalism
  • Thoughtful, low-ego collaborators who genuinely care about client outcomes

Ideal Background

  • 5+ years of experience in learning and development, or a related field
  • Deep expertise in adult learning, with a track record of designing and developing professional learning programs end to end
  • Strong facilitation experience across a range of topics and audiences
  • Hands-on experience building learning assets
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capability
  • CTDP designation is considered an asset

How We Work

At Origami HR, how we work matters just as much as what we deliver.

Partnership

We sit on our clients’ side of the table. We approach every engagement as a true partnership and operate as an extension of the teams we support. We care deeply about outcomes, relationships, and building trust through how we show up every day.

Impact

We focus on solving the real problem, not just delivering the output. We think beyond surface-level solutions and create work that is practical, usable, and meaningful long after the engagement ends.

Craft

Our clients choose Origami HR because they want something more thoughtful, more tailored, and more human than traditional consulting. We bring expertise, strong judgment, polished communication, and a high standard of quality to everything we do. Every interaction reflects our craft.

Ownership

We follow through, communicate proactively, and take responsibility for delivering excellent work. We take initiative, move work forward, and are trusted to operate with professionalism, care, and accountability.

Working Model

  • Independent contractor / subcontractor engagement
  • Consultants are responsible for managing their taxes, insurance, and independent contractor requirements
  • Canada-based, primarily remote work with occasional virtual or in-person facilitation
  • Project-based engagements with variable hours that flex with client needs, rather than a set or full-time schedule
  • Rates are competitive and based on scope and experience, and we discuss them early in the interview process
