About the Company

Our client, a reputable downtown Toronto law firm, is seeking a Litigation Law Clerk to join their growing plaintiff-side litigation team. This is a fully remote position for candidates residing in Ontario.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of plaintiff-side litigation experience, ideally involving class actions, complex litigation, and/or large-scale personal injury matters. Strong traditional law clerk skills and knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure are required. Experience with claims administration, claimant intake, and high-volume litigation files is a strong asset.

The role involves direct communication with class members and claimants. Professionalism, empathy, patience, and sensitivity are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide law clerk support on complex plaintiff-side class action and litigation matters.
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, motion materials, affidavits, certification materials, correspondence, and other court documents.
  • Assist with certification, examinations, motions, mediations, settlements, and trial preparation.
  • Manage large volumes of documents, evidence, and claimant information.
  • Assist with claims administration, including reviewing claims, maintaining claimant records, and communicating with class members.
  • Conduct detailed and sensitive claimant intake interviews.
  • Prepare medical, factual, and documentary summaries.
  • Manage litigation calendars, deadlines, limitation dates, filings, and court materials.
  • Communicate with clients, class members, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties.
  • Perform other traditional law clerk duties as required.

Requirements

  • Law Clerk Diploma/Certificate from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of relevant litigation experience, preferably plaintiff-side.
  • Experience with class actions, complex litigation, large-scale personal injury, or high-volume files is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario court procedures and the Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Claims administration or claimant intake experience is a strong asset.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities remotely.

Compensation

  • Up to $85,000, commensurate with experience
