Position: Loader/Skidsteer Operator

Job Type: Site-based, Full-time.

Location: Eastern Canada. Our head office is located in Hamilton, Ontario.

Pay Rate: $55.33 per hour (in accordance with the applicable collective agreement).

Key Responsibilities of the Role

  • Safely operate loaders, skid steers, and other assigned equipment on active construction sites.
  • Perform material handling, site cleanup, loading, unloading, and general site support activities.
  • Support drilling, shoring, deep foundation, and geotechnical construction operations as required.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and report any mechanical or safety concerns.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and ensure machinery is kept in good working order.
  • Follow site-specific work plans, project specifications, and supervisor direction.
  • Work closely with site crews, forepersons, and superintendents to support efficient project execution.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, inspections, and hazard assessments.
  • Comply with all company, client, regulatory, and environmental requirements.
  • Travel and work at project sites throughout Eastern Canada as required.

This position is governed by the applicable union collective agreement. Candidates must be members in good standing with IUOE Local 793 or be willing and eligible to obtain membership upon hire in accordance with union and project requirements.

Qualifications – What Will Make You Successful

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Experience operating loaders, skid steers, or similar heavy equipment in a construction environment is considered an asset. Experience within the deep foundations, geotechnical, heavy civil, or construction industry is considered an asset. Experience working on active construction projects and job sites is considered an asset.
  • Soft skills: Reliable, motivated, and dependable. Ability to work effectively within a team environment. Strong communication skills. Ability to work in varying weather and site conditions. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Required designations or certifications: Must be a member in good standing with IUOE Local 793 or be willing and eligible to join IUOE Local 793 upon hire. Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to project sites throughout Eastern Canada. WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain). Working at Heights certification considered an asset. First Aid/CPR certification considered an asset. Additional construction safety certifications are considered an asset.
